The Story Behind Ruth’s Wellness: From Bed-Bound to Building Strength

The Day Everything Changed

In November 2024, a single moment redefined my life. A fall resulted in a hip fracture that brought my world to a sudden, painful standstill. At 75, I found myself facing a reality many seniors fear: four months of being strictly bed-bound.

I spent 92 days watching the world from a mattress, waiting for my bone to calcify. While the fracture eventually healed without surgery by February 7, 2025, the “silent thief” had already moved in. That thief was Sarcopenia.

The Invisible Battle: Recovering from Muscle Loss

When I finally stood up in February, I realized the fracture wasn’t my biggest hurdle anymore. Four months of inactivity had stripped my legs of their power. My “IT logic” mind—honed over 40 years in the industry – tried to tell my legs to move, but the muscles were no longer there to execute the command.

Today, I’ve recovered from the break, but I’ll be honest: I cannot walk as fast as I used to. My legs feel the weight of those four months every day. Recovery at 75 isn’t a sprint; it’s a marathon that requires patience, the right supplements, and a stubborn refusal to give up.

Turning Pain into Purpose

I realized that my experience shouldn’t just be a personal memory – it should be a resource. I know exactly what it’s like to lose your independence in a split second. I know the anxiety of a slippery bathroom floor and the daunting height of a staircase.

Ruth’s Wellness was born from those 4 months in bed. My mission is to bridge the gap between “healing” and “living” for seniors and their caregivers.

## My Commitment to You (The Site’s Mission)

Through this platform, I am applying my 40 years of systems logic to the most important “system” we own: Our Safety. I provide actionable, real-world advice on:

I am not just a writer; I am a 75-year-old survivor of the “Great Fall.” I am walking this path with you – perhaps a little slower than I’d like – but with a clear vision for a safer, stronger future for all seniors.
